Background
YouthLinks prepares youth in Wilson County to enter the
workforce. Goals of YouthLinks are as follows:
- To provide or "link"
youth, ages 14 -21 to educational and occupational opportunities
they need to receive a secondary school diploma or GED.
- To promote educational skills and
training
- To prepare youth ages 14 -21 for
today's workforce
- To strengthen the educational
goals of our school system
- To enter the workforce prepared
on all levels-from academic and occupational skills achievement
to the attainment of a healthy work ethic
Services
YouthLinks provides varying services to eligible
participants. Participants criteria includes youth who meet
guidelines and the following: deficient in basic literacy skills,
high school dropout, homeless or runaway, foster child or in state
custody, pregnant or a parenting youth, an offender, have a
disability, or needs additional assistance to complete an
educational program or to secure employment.
YouthLinks provides the following
services and activities:
- Tutoring and study skills
training
- Occupational training and
apprenticeships
- Adult mentoring
- Guidance and counseling
- Summer employment opportunities
- Like skills and leadership
opportunities
- Job shadowing and character
education
- GED and other test fees
- Tuition and course fees
- Paid and unpaid work experiences
- Book fees
- Coordination of Pell Grant

- Job search assistance
- Resume and job application
preparation
- Tutoring available in Lebanon,
Wilson Central, Mt. Juliet, and Watertown High Schools
