Bob GrimesName: Bob Grimes

Title: Manager, Staff and Community Development

Company: Turner Universal

Industry: Construction

Bob Grimes has been a board member for the Middle Tennessee Workforce Board for 4 years. He has served on the Executive Committee and has chaired the Operations Committee. Currently, Grimes is the 1st Vice Chair and we welcome him as the new chair of the workforce committee.

What does your company do? Turner Universal provides Construction Management Services

Education:  Business Management; University of Phoenix

Favorite vacation spot:  Monterey, California

Favorite music artist: The Eagles

Greatest professional accomplishment:  I take great pride in having served on Active Duty in the U.S. Army for 12 years. However, I always believe the best is yet to come.

Goal yet to be achieved:   I would like to find the elusive balance between Work and Life.  Once that happens, there will be no stopping me.

Professional pet peeve:  People with hidden agendas; they destroy trust and waste valuable resources.

What word best describes you?   I would say Motivated. My sincere hope would be that when asked, those around me would use words like Reliable, Kind, Encouraging, or Helpful.

What is there that people would be surprised to learn?  I don’t think many people know my family’s roots are in Lauderdale County, Tennessee, mainly around Ripley. I come from a long line of Tomato and Cotton Pickers, hard working people. I try to honor them by being willing to get my hands dirty and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

I really don’t believe I harbor too many surprises beyond that. I try to share as much as I can with others, be encouraging, and give back to our community.  In my personal life, I imagine I am much like other husbands and fathers. I am in love with my wife, I adore my children and try to provide the best life for them that I can in order for them to reach their greatest potential and achieve happiness.
