2006 MTWIB Workforce Foundation
Awards will be held on
Monday, March 13, 2006
from 11 am to 1 pm at
the
Sheraton Music City Hotel. Our theme for this year’s
event is “Growing the Workforce” and
is sponsored by:


We will grow our
workforce as we hear from the two commonly forgotten audiences;
youth and older workers.
NPT will present Avenues of Hope- Youth Aging Out of Foster
Care and The Open Road—Boomers Changing Careers.
Award winners are recognized for contribution to the development of
our workforce system. The award categories include:
Career Resilience (Davidson, Rutherford, Trousdale, Wilson)
Most Valuable Partner (Davidson, Rutherford, Trousdale,
Wilson)
Rising Young Worker
Employer of the Year
Workforce Innovation
The Chair's Award

Career Resilience (Davidson, Rutherford,
Trousdale, Wilson):
Nomination Criteria: One award for
each county (4 total) will be presented to a job seeker that is a
constructive example of self-reliance, and has overcome unusual
circumstances to achieve work/life success through firm commitment
to actively manage his/her career in a rapidly changing work
environment.
Eligible Candidates: All active customers.
1. Describe the customer’s unusual circumstances.
2. Detail how customer overcame these circumstances to find success.
3. How is customer successfully balancing work and life commitments?

Most Valuable
Partner
(Davidson, Rutherford, Trousdale, Wilson):
Nomination
Criteria: One award for each county (4 total) will be given to an
entity that has demonstrated outstanding leadership, vision and
involvement in the career center system; helped to construct our
future by supporting and practicing the principles of partnership
and collaboration envisioned in the Workforce Investment Act;
actively worked with the career center staff to connect career and
employment resources or services to job seekers and employers.
Eligible Candidates: Government Agencies, Non-profit Organizations,
Employers
1. How has partner shown leadership, vision, and involvement with
career center system?
2. What principles of the Workforce Investment Act does the partner
support and practice?
3. How has partner demonstrated the ability to connect career
resources with job seekers and or employers?

Rising Young Worker:
Nomination Criteria: Award will be presented to youth that has
demonstrated commitment and determination, made strides to succeed
in academic studies and served in a leadership role in his/her
school and community helping to promote the future success of their
peers.
Eligible Candidates: Youth served by Youth Service Contractors.
1. Provide information regarding youth’s academic achievement,
vocational training and work experience.
2. How has youth demonstrated leadership qualities?
A. In school
B. In the community
3. What are the future plans of this youth?

Employer of the Year
Nomination Criteria: One award will be presented to an employer that
is committed to building workforce development solutions such as
career development of its employees and work-life balances; and
contributed resources to strengthening the future workforce of
Middle Tennessee.
Eligible Candidates: Employers within 4-county region.
1. How is the employer committed to improving work-life balance for
its employees?
2. What career development programs does the employer promote for
its employees?
3. How has this company helped to strengthen the workforce?

Workforce Innovation Award:
Nomination Criteria: One award will be presented to an organization
that has demonstrated a unique collaboration and creative solutions
to connect job seekers with employment opportunities.
Eligible Candidates: Government Agencies, Non-profit Organizations,
Employers
1. What creative solutions and or collaborations were demonstrated
by this organization to connect job seekers with employment
opportunities?
2. How were the solutions implemented and what were the results?

The Chair's Award:
Nomination Criteria: One award will be presented this prestigious
award to recognize the individual or organization that epitomizes
superior leadership and innovation by constructing our future
through workforce development.
Eligible Candidates: No specific limit
1. How has this individual/organization positively contributed to
the community by developing the Middle Tennessee workforce? Please
provide specific examples.

Nomination Process:
Nominations will be accepted for the 2006 awards starting Monday,
January 2, 2006 through Friday, January 20, 2006.
All nominations must be submitted on a Nomination Form online no
later than 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2006.
An ad hoc committee of Middle Tennessee Management and members of
the Middle Tennessee Workforce Investment Board will determine
winners based on nominees that closely meet the required criteria
for each category.
