The Nashville Career Advancement Center
is currently looking to provide funding for high-technology training in
the areas of architecture, biomedical, biotechnical, engineering, and
information technology.
The training is directed toward
employers indicating a need to train incumbent workers. Training limits
are set at a max of $6,000 per training plan with an employer required
50% match (for every $1 of cost generated by the employer, the employer
can be reimbursed $2). Some of the key elements to the training program
are listed below.
-
This is a cost reimbursement
contract. Employers will be reimbursed for allowable costs up to
$6,000 per training plan.
-
Examples of allowable costs include training expense
or tuition, testing fees, and materials.
-
Training must be at a “high-level” which is
interpreted as roughly equivalent to training that may be pursued at
a bachelor’s degree or higher.
-
Training should be industry recognized and result in
a credential.
-
Training that does not meet individual credential
requirements must demonstrate a career ladder that results in
employment at the above stated level.
-
Employers must commit to a
3% wage increase on
employees receiving training. Wage increases are an aggregate of all
training plans approved for each employer. Wage increases are
calculated as the difference in the employees wage at the start of
training and the employees wage six months after the completion of
training.
-
There is a 50% match requirement. Employer match is
calculated in aggregate for all training plans submitted.
-
Examples of allowable match include training fees or
tuition, testing fees, materials, travel expenses, and employee wage
paid while in training.
-
If utilizing employee wages as match, the employee
must remain employed by the employer for at least 60 days after
completion of training.
