assistance to low income older workers by providing
meaningful part-time work experience and providing
opportunities to obtain unsubsidized jobs in the private
or public sector.
The
Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP),
funded under Title V of the Older Americans Act, serves
persons with low incomes who are 55 years old or over
and have poor employment prospects. The program has two
purposes: to provide useful community services and to
foster individual economic self-sufficiency through
training and job placement in unsubsidized jobs.

Trade Act of 1975 - Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce
Development Trade
Adjustment Assistance (TAA) is available to workers who
lose their jobs or whose hours of work are reduced as a
result of increased imports. TAA offers a variety of
benefits and services to help workers prepare for and
obtain employment. In 1993 the act was amended to cover
workers whose employment is adversely affected by the
North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA-TAA).
Veterans Program - Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce
Development This
program provides Local Veterans Employment
Representatives (LVER) and Disabled Veteran Outreach
Program (DVOP) staff. These staff members serve as an
outreach to veterans and insure veterans' preference in
referral to jobs and other services. Employment-related
testing, training information, skills assessment,
referral, and case management are among the services
provided.

A program for disadvantaged youth where the individuals
reside and attend classes on a Job Corps campus in
Memphis
or Bristol.
Native American Programs - The

Indian Center
Specific WIA funding is provided to support employment
and training activities for Indians, Alaska Native, and
Native Hawaiian individuals.

Opportunity Grants

increase the long term employment of youth who live in
empowerment zones, enterprise communities, and high
poverty areas.
